Glaucoma is a condition that damages the optic nerve of the eye. It is one of the most common causes of irreversible blindness worldwide. It is related to the buildup of pressure in the eyeball. The increased pressure, known as intraocular pressure, can damage the optic nerve, which transmits images to the brain.
