Uveitis is a general term used to describe a group of conditions that cause red eyes, eye pain, and inflammation. These diseases mainly affect the uvea, the middle layer of the eye. They can also affect other parts of the eye. If left untreated, uveitis can lead to permanent blindness or vision loss.
